What will improve restless legs syndrome?

Some people with dementia find that their sleep routine is affected by restless legs at night. This is especially common in those who have Lewy body dementia but can also be a symptom of other conditions, including low iron. There are things that can help restless legs, including: *Avoiding caffeine, tobacco and alcohol, especially at night. Ideally, tobacco should be avoided at all times *Exercising regularly – but don’t exercise too close to bedtime *Getting into a good sleep routine. You can read more about that here *Having a hot bath close to bedtime *Relaxing – try mindfulness exercises, meditation, Pilates, yoga, tai-chi, deep breathing, stretching *Massaging your legs and/or applying a warm compress *Taking a gentle walk *Distracting yourself – try doing a puzzle, reading a book, watching TV, doing a craft activity If you find that nothing helps your restless legs, speak to your GP. Your doctor might be able to prescribe something to help.
