Throughout our website we may link to other websites owned and operated by certain third parties. For more information, please see “Does This Cookie Policy Cover Websites Other Than Ours“.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text file of letters and numbers which are placed onto your browser or the hard drive of your device (e.g. computer, smartphone or other electronic device) when you use our website.

We use cookies on this website to:

  • recognise you and your device and store information about your preferences;

  • personalise our website to you and show you the content we think you will be most interested in based on your usage;

  • enable you to watch videos on our website;

  • allow you to connect with us and our content on social media;

  • ensure the smooth running of our website and provide you with a good experience when you browse our website;

  • analyse your use of our website to show us how you found and move around our website e.g. by counting visits, how long you stayed on the website, the average number of pages viewed. This helps us to improve our website and optimise performance (Some of this data will be aggregated or statistical, which means that we will not be able to identify you individually);

  • show you more targeted advertising when you visit other websites.

This information helps us to build a profile of our visitors. Some of this data will be aggregated or statistical, which means we won’t be able to identify you individually (e.g. analytical cookies).

For further information on our use of cookies please see below. For further information on cookies generally, including how to control and manage them, visit the guidance on cookies published by the ICO, or www.allaboutcookies.org.

What other software do we use?

We also use pixels. These are small pieces of software developed and provided by advertisers and social media service providers. They’re integrated into the website to provide you with more relevant ads which are tailored to your interests.

What types of cookies do we use and how long do they last for?

The cookies we place on your device fall into the following categories – please see the table below for which are applicable:

Essential Cookies

  • Strictly necessary (or essential) – these cookies are required for the smooth running and operation of our website. They are always enabled because our website won’t work without them. They include core functionality such as to allow you to log into secure areas of our website. They also support security, network management and accessibility. You can switch off these cookies in your browser settings but you may then not be able to access all or parts of our website.

Non-Essential Cookies

  • Functional – these cookies are used to recognize you when you return to our website. They enable us to personalize our content for you, greet you by name and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region). The information collected by these cookies is anonymous and can’t track your browsing activity on other websites.

  • Analytical and performance – these cookies allow us to count visits and to see how visitors move around our website when they’re using it. They help us to improve the way our website works, for example by ensuring that visitors are finding what they’re looking for easily, so we can optimise performance. All information these cookies collect is anonymous.

  • Social media – these cookies are set by a range of social media services we use to embed content into our site or allow you to sign up with us using an external social media account information. They can track your browsing across other sites, and build-up a profile of your interests. If you don’t allow these cookies, you won’t be able to see embedded content on our site or sign in using an external social media account.

  • Targeting – these cookies may be set through our website by our advertising partners. They uniquely identify your browser and device to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other websites you may visit, including on social media channels. We’ll use this information to record your visit to our website, the pages you’ve visited and the links you’ve followed. If you don’t allow these cookies, the adverts you see will be less targeted and you will experience less personalised offers and products.

The cookies we place on your device are stored for the following duration – please see the table below for which are applicable:

  • Session cookies – these allow our website to link your actions during a particular browser session. They expire each time you close your browser and don’t remain on your device afterwards.

  • Persistent cookies – these are stored on your device in between browser sessions. These allow your preferences or actions across our website to be remembered. They will remain on your device until they expire, or until you delete them from your browser cache. Details of their duration are set out below.

The Cookies We Use:

There’s a cookie banner on our homepage which asks for your consent to place these non-essential cookies or other similar technologies on your device. Where our cookie table (above) indicates that we use necessary (or essential) cookies, we will use your personal information on the basis that it is in our legitimate interests to do so as strictly necessary (or essential) cookies are necessary for our website to work.
