How can I turn bad habits into good ones?

When you’re living with dementia, it’s easy to feel down about yourself and certain behaviours that you don’t like, but it’s important that you cut yourself some slack. Accepting that things are changing and you might take some time to adapt is one way of being kind to yourself. If you’re thinking about a particular habit that you don’t like, changing behaviour can come down to: Identifying what it is you want to change Looking at why you behave a certain way at certain times, then looking at ways to manage stress or difficult situations differently Setting an intention by writing it down Acknowledging that sometimes you will slip up and not to feel bad when this happens Because of the changes that dementia brings, setting a routine for your day and week can help you to stick to healthier habits.
