Can I still do the things I love?

Of course – in fact, it’s really important that you continue to do the things you enjoy now that you have a dementia diagnosis. You might find you need to ask others for support to help you to do them, or adapt the way you do things a little, but staying active and engaged are really important right now. And what better way to do this than to continue to do the things that bring joy. You might find it hard to ask for help, but it’s useful to know that keeping well means staying active, keeping your mind busy, moving your body, being with others and staying connected. And if you need a bit of a helping hand to do those things now, it’s worth asking for it. Far from being a burden, you’ll be retaining a sense of independence and engaging in things that will help you – and those who care for you – in the future.
